Main Septic Demonstration Facility
The College of Agricultural and Natural Resources and the Maryland Onsite Wastewater Professional Association (MOWPA) are developing a facility intended to demonstrate technology and provide education and training on onsite wastewater treatment (septic systems).
The two-acre site presents unique opportunities for homeowners and various professionals to experience a variety of wastewater treatment technologies. These include conventional septic systems, waste water dispersal methods, advanced treatment or best available technology (BAT) systems. The goal is to be able to demonstrate on site system landscaping practices, well technology, and protection practices.
- Education of homeowners on systems, components, and maintenances practices.
- Training for wastewater industry and government environment personnel including CEU’s.
- Experiential learning of technology and their operation.
- Ability to understand wastewater dispersal systems
- Scheduled tours and workshops for the general public
