The second day will be partially in the field and there are several items that you will need to bring because you will be entering test pits and describe soils. MOWPA will provide the clip board but the other items you will need to bring. Also, plan to dress appropriately for predicted weather conditions.
Field Items:
  • Bring clipboard and pencil/pen (MOWPA will provide a clip board the first day of class)
  • trowel or large knife for picking soil profile
  • measuring tape (>= 6 ft.); clinometer
  • Abney level or lock-level for measuring slope
  • Munsell soil color book; water bottle
  • cloth for wiping hands and any other personnel field supplies.
